We designed an interactive, expandable system that turned Live+Breathe’s mission into a tangible takeaway—through art, poetry, and community experience.

Opportunity
Create an engaging, hopeful design for Live+Breathe to educate Londoners—especially Gen Z—about deadly air quality in South London. The mission was to inspire awareness and action through positive, creative experiences that reflect the ethos of Live+Breathe: community-focused, hopeful, and action-driven.
Approach
Pushing the project beyond one piece of collateral, we developed a scalable creative system. The zine was designed as an evolving, participatory art piece—a collection of original poetry, illustrations, and photographs centered around themes of nature, environment, and community life in Lambeth and Southwark. Readers are invited to engage directly with the zine itself with cut-out sections and prompts to write their own poetry.
Beyond the initial edition, we conceptualized the zine as an expandable platform: future editions could be co-created with local poets, singers, and visual artists, deepening Live+Breathe’s ongoing collaboration with South London’s creative communities.
To further amplify their event activation, we proposed a poetry photo booth. Poems would be projected onto participants’ faces, allowing individuals and groups to create memorable portraits linked to the event’s theme. This gave visitors a tangible takeaway—their photo—while expanding Live+Breathe’s brand presence through authentic, community-driven storytelling and UGC.
The system was intentionally designed for affordability: easy to produce, adaptable to different venues, and capable of evolving into larger workshops, performances, and ongoing artist collaborations.
ResulT

Our project was selected as the winner out of 30+ student groups. It continues to be used at Live+Breathe events and was presented at Fête of Britain (with Factory International/Aviva Studios) in Manchester. Thanks to the meaning-driven efforts with my collaborators, this project became one of the most impactful and creatively fulfilling pieces of my time studying in London.
